Birds of the Northeast

Coastal Birds of the Northeast Shore: This area is home to a stunning mix of wading birds, including great egrets, snowy egrets, yellow-crowned night herons, black-crowned night herons, and white ibis. During nesting season, these species gather in large, active rookeries, creating an incredible opportunity to observe natural behaviors up close.

Wood Ducks: In addition to the coastal waders, wood ducks are a highlight of the region. Common breeding residents in Pennsylvania, April is a prime time to observe them as they return from their southern wintering grounds and begin nesting. In Northeast Pennsylvania, they are typically found in shallow, forested wetlands, beaver ponds, and along wooded streams.
